How does your agent work?
My agent uses breadth -first search using a queue data structure to hold all our states yet to be
processed. Loops through all the states and pops the left element from the queue, and checks if
the state is our goal; if it is true, it returns the state; else, it adds the state to visited.
Basically, my agent starts at the root node and iterates over each node, i.e., starting from the
left node moving towards the right until it has iterated over all non -visited states or until w e find
the solution.
How does it generate new states?
The states are generated by iterating over the current state using the five possible moves: (2,
0), (0, 2), (1, 1), (1, 0), (0, 1) tuples of sheep, wolves. Alternatively, having only five possible
moves , we can only generate five new states.
Then the states are checked for the following :
a. If the sheep and wolves are not 0
b. If there are more wolves than sheeps
c. If the sheep and wolves are more than their initials
d. If there is any animal on the side of the b oat
How well does your agent perform?
Because my gent uses the breadth -first search algorithm, which is used to find the shortest path
between points and always finds an optimal solution, there will never be any unwanted/useless
path since it searches ste p by step. It has been able to solve most of the problems I tested it
against, and there is no case It has failed. The only drawback is that it is memory consuming
because we have to store all our visited states.
As the number increases, the time required to find a solution increases.
Does your agent do anything particularly clever to
arrive at an answer more efficiently?
If using bfs is considered clever, then my agent innovatively solves the sheep and wolves;
otherwise, my agent does nothing that can be regarded as innovative because it uses the
standard queue data structure and breadth -first algorithm to compute the solution.
How does your agent compare to a human?
Although humans are considered to have a potentially powerful brain, they take a conside rable
amount of time to perform complex calculations or decide which decisions to take over another.
In contrast, my agent performs every possible step in seconds to get to the solution. So the
agent solves the problem different to how I would solve it.
