Due Dates:
Rough Draft Due 6/22 (You will need to submit an electronic copy on Blackboard to both the assignment link and the peer review link.) Draft needs to be at least 600 words.
Final DRAFT Due 7/6 (You will need to submit an electronic copy on Blackboard to the assignment link.) Final draft needs to be at least 1200 words.

Assignment: Write a rhetorical analysis of a recipe blog from the link below, or of your own choosing. The recipe blog you choose must be long enough to write your paper as well as have a specific goal in mind so you can evaluate its use of ethos, logos and pathos. It needs to have a message.

In your paper, I will expect you to make your own argument about whether or not the recipe blogs argument works well to persuade its intended audience. You will need to identify the authors audience, the purpose the author had when writing the blog, whether or not the author was successful and how. You are to focus on HOW the author presents her/his ideas. In other words, do not simply offer your audience a summary of the text (although you will need to briefly summarize its main ideas so that your audience will understand what the song is about). Think about technique and ethos, logos and pathos. You should incorporate specific examples from the text to back up your own argument concerning the success and/or failure of the blog. You will need a Works Cited page that cites your chosen blog.

You must choose ONE of the recipe blogs listed on the blog to write your paper on. OR, you may choose a food related article or blog on your own. Just make sure you let me know first.

Purpose: Your purpose in this assignment is to demonstrate your ability to discern the argument of a text and judge whether or not the author was successful in making that argument (from not successful to very successful and anything in between). This assignment will require you to carefully select components of the authors work which best demonstrate your own argument about what you feel works well (or poorly, or both) in the song
