Human Resources Officer
Description
This work task is required to be completed as a part of the recruitment process for the Human
Resources Officer position.
Purpose
This activity is designed to assess the following capabilities:
1. Effective Communication
2. Demonstrate ability in problem solving
3. Influence people
Task
You will be required to make a presentation to the interview panel. You will be given up to 20 minutes
to present your task to the panel with 10 minutes provided for the panel members to ask any
questions related to the presentation. Your presentation should include a verbal component as well
as being supported by a visual component. Please be as creative as you feel you need to be to
effectively communicate the requirements of the task.
Scenario
You are employed within the Human Resources team and are specifically tasked with supporting the
team with two key focus’. These are:
1. Development A priority within this focus is Customer Service. Specifically, you have received
feedback from various sources around the poor reputation of the front of house team at Mt
Druitt with the organisational and wider community. Improvements are required around the
following themes:
Attitude and interaction approach
Phone Manner
Working together as a team
Time Management
Follow-up
2. Talent Acquisition
Organization been through many changes over the last 12 months. As a result of previous operational
management and external factors (such as Covid) there has been a significant impact on the
recruitment and retention of specialist health service staff (e.g. General Practitioners and
Phycologists).
Requirements
With the scenario above in mind put together a plan addressing the two key focuses of Development
and Talent Acquisition.
Within your plan ensure to address the following:
Development:
– What data or further investigation would you undertake to validate the feedback
– Highlight what changes need to take place to affect improvement
– What could be included as appropriate interventions
– What are some of the challenges you can identify
– What other methods of improvement can you suggest ensuring the longevity of the changes
Talent Acquisition:
– Identify the potential methods of sourcing these roles (internal and external)
– Develop a method of retaining sourced talent
– Suggest other areas we should consider addressing to support the above
